The franchise was founded in 1932 and is currently owned by Josh Harris. The inaugural name of the team was the Boston Braves in 1932, changing the next season to the Boston Redskins, and in 1937 to the Washington Redskins. In 2020, it became the Washington Football Team and, more recently, in 2022, the Washington Commanders. The Commanders play their home games at FedExField Stadium in Landover, Maryland. The Commanders last won the Super Bowl title in 1992 when they played in Super Bowl XXVI. They played against the Buffalo Bills and defeated them by a score of 37-24. The game was played at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and this was the fifth Super Bowl appearance of the Commanders. The Super Bowl MVP was quarterback Mark Rypien, who completed 18 of 33 passes for 292 yards and recorded two touchdowns in the game. Joe Gibbs was the head coach of the Commanders at that time.
