Quarterback Jayden Daniels has guided the Washington Commanders to the postseason in his rookie campaign after being selected with the second overall pick in the NFL draft. With a 12-5 season record, Washington earned the No. 5 seed in the NFC and a wild-card playoff place.
The former LSU quarterback will now take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night in an attempt to lead the Commanders to their first postseason win since 2005.
The Bucs will host this wild-card game as the No. 3 seed after quarterback Baker Mayfield helped the team capture the NFC South with a 10-7 record.

Commanders injury report for wild-card round game vs. Bucs
The Washington Commanders' injury report on Thursday offers optimism for their Sunday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round.
Four of Washington's five players, who were classified as DNP on the injury report on Wednesday, were only there because of rest. These four players, TE Zach Ertz, OLB Dante Fowler Jr., WR Terry McLaurin and DE Clelin Ferrell, returned to practice on Thursday as the playoffs drew closer.
Safety Quan Martin was also a nonparticipant in practice on Wednesday because of illness. He was not listed on the injury report on Thursday, suggesting that he's now back healthy.
The Commanders are becoming healthier since no players were listed as nonparticipants on Thursday's injury report. However, they had several players who were limited in practice, including center Tyler Biadasz (ankle), wide receiver Jamison Crowder (groin), tackle Cornelius Lucas (groin), tight end John Bates (shoulder) and linebacker Frankie Luvu (shoulder).
Safety Jeremy Chinn (rib), tackle Brandon Coleman (knee), quarterback Jayden Daniels (quad), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (hamstring), linebacker Jordan Magee (hamstring) and tight end Colson Yankoff (hamstring) were listed as full practice participants on Thursday, so they will all be likely available on Sunday.
Marshon Lattimore injury update
The Washington Commanders brought in cornerback Marshon Lattimore through a midseason trade. However, a hamstring injury has kept the four-time Pro Bowler out of six of eight games since the move.
Lattimore appears to be nearing a return to the field against receiver Mike Evans and the Bucs this week after being named as a full practice participant on Wednesday and Thursday.
“He’s hitting all the markers in a good space,” head coach Dan Quinn said about Lattimore's injury on Wednesday. “So, he’s hit all the markers up to this point, and I anticipate that trending through the week, but tomorrow and Friday, specifically tomorrow, will be one that’s more speed.”
Jayden Daniels injury update
Jayden Daniels was replaced with Marcus Mariota at halftime in the Washington Commanders' regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Dan Quinn said the QB was unable to get through the Week 18 game because of leg soreness.
Despite being listed as having a quad ailment on the Commanders' injury reports this week, the 24-year-old quarterback has participated fully in practice twice.
Daniels doesn't appear to be in danger of missing the playoff game against the Bucs, as he has already stated that he would have continued playing last week if the game against Dallas was considered a must-win.
