49ers injury report for Week 16
Injuries to key players have plagued the San Francisco 49ers throughout the season as theyl face the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 with more injury concerns.
Running back Isaac Guerendo (foot, hamstring) and offensive lineman Trent Williams (ankle) were ruled out for this week after Friday's practice. Other important players like defensive end Nick Bosa (hip, oblique) and linebacker Dre Greenlaw (achilles, knee) were also deemed questionable.
The good news is that defensive tackle Maliek Collins, who missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to illness, participated fully in Friday's practice and was taken off the injury report. Additionally, after recording a full practice on Friday, OT Jaylon Moore (hip), who's anticipated to replace Trent Williams once more, was taken off the final injury report.
Due to a chest problem, safety Malik Mustapha was also a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday. However, he practiced fully on Friday, which allowed him to be taken off the injury report.
Isaac Guerendo's injury update
Rookie running back Isaac Guerendo was already dealing with a foot issue before last week's game against the Los Angeles Rams. While he played through that injury, he suffered a fresh hamstring injury against the Rams.
It's never easy to deal with two ailments at once, so it's quite understandable that Guerendo didn't practice at all this week before the Niners declared him out on Friday.
Guerendo is the fourth running back for the San Francisco 49ers to suffer an injury this season. Patrick Taylor Jr. will now likely have to start as the running back against the Dolphins.
Trent Williams' injury update
Due to persistent heel and ankle problems, Trent Williams has missed the last four San Francisco 49ers games. The veteran offensive tackle was ruled out again this week, and it's unlikely that he will play again this season.
Additionally, coach Kyle Shanahan said, "So it's getting closer to being that way," in response to a question about whether Williams won't play again for the remainder of the season.
Nick Bosa's injury update
Nick Bosa made his comeback in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Rams after missing three games because of hip and oblique injuries.
He didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday, suggesting that he's still battling with injuries. He made a limited comeback to practice on Friday, but it was insufficient to keep him from being labeled questionable for Week 16.
