Starting the right quarterbacks in Week 16 of the 2024 fantasy football season will be more crucial than ever. The fantasy playoffs are underway in almost all league formats, so managers must optimize the highest-scoring position on their rosters. Here are some of the best targets and fades to consider in order to do so.
Week 16 Fantasy Football QBs Start 'Em picks
Sam Darnold has been one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2024 fantasy football season. He ranks as the overall QB8 this year with seven weekly finishes among the top ten quarterbacks. Three of those have come across his past five games for the Minnesota Vikings, and he totaled 13 touchdowns during that stretch. This gives him plenty of momentum entering his Week 16 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

He is joined by Baker Mayfield, who is also having an incredible fantasy football season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has finished among the top ten weekly quarterbacks ten times in 14 games this year, and he is ranked as the overall QB5. He also has a favorable matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

Week 16 Fantasy Football QBs Sit 'Em picks
Brock Purdy ranks as the overall QB13 this year, making him a borderline starter in fantasy football for most weeks. The issue with his outlook this week is that he has struggled in recent weeks for the San Francisco 49ers, finishing outside of the top 30 weekly quarterbacks in two of his past three games. He is also facing off against a solid Miami Dolphins defense this week, making him a clear fade.
Another quarterback to avoid this week is Jared Goff, despite his impressive season with the Detroit Lions. He ranks as the overall QB7 this year, but he has been much better at home than on the road. He has finished outside of the top 15 weekly quarterbacks in each of his past three road games, with two of them being QB25 and QB27 finishes. He also finished as the QB18 against the Chicago Bears, who he will face off against on the road this week.
