Josh Allen and the Bills could lock the second seed with a win - Source: Getty
The Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets met in Week 17 of the NFL season, in a game with almost no meaning for playoff concerns. The Jets entered the game with a 4-11 record, having been eliminated many weeks before, while the Bills had all but locked the second seed in the AFC.

As expected, there wasn't much competitiveness in the game. Buffalo jumped to a two-possession lead at halftime, including a bizarre safety from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets scored no points in the first half.
In the second half, it never looked like the visitors would be able to recover at any point. After a slow start to the third quarter, Buffalo took flight and scored 28 straight points, with the blowout reaching 40-0. At least the Jets had two touchdowns to take some of the embarrassment away.

The veteran quarterback had yet another bad performance, missing open receivers constantly while throwing multiple picks. He was pulled from the game late, when Buffalo already had a huge advantage on the score board.

There aren't many things that went right for the Jets in this game, but Garrett Wilson, who could be looking for a trade according to Ian Rapoport, at least had a good performance. The offense stalled for almost the entire game.

Allowing 40 points is always a bad thing, but it also comes to mind that the unity registered no sacks or interceptions throughout the game. Luckily for them, there's only one game left in the season.

Allen solidified his MVP campaign with another solid performance, including a fantastic throw to Amari Cooper to score a touchdown. With one week to go, he remains the favorite to win the award in Vegas.

One thing that could become a concern for Buffalo in January is their running game, with Cook amassing under 3.0 yards per carry on Sunday. Running the ball efficiently is one of the biggest keys to win playoff games.

About the author
Henrique Bulio
Henrique Bulio is an NFL and College Football journalist at Sportskeeda and the Editor-in-Chief of Pro Football Brasil. He has a total 13 years of experience working in American Football, and playing quarterback at an amateur level in Brazil has given him a unique perspective of the game.
Henrique follows the Philadelphia Eagles closely due to Michael Vick's historic performance on MNF against the Washington Commanders in 2010. His all-time favorite player is Ed Reed; he believes that Reed is the greatest safety to ever play the game. Bill Belichick gets the nod as Henrique's favorite coach for coaching the Patriots to glory over two decades.
If Henrique were to be able to go back in time and watch one game, it would be Super Bowl XLIX, where the Patriots and the Seahawks played a complete, back-and-forth game that concluded with one of the biggest talking points in NFL history.
Technical deep dives are Henrique’s specialty, and he ensures never to use misleading words in his articles, since he himself consumes a lot of information off the web. He has had the privilege of interviewing Cairo Santos, Lamar Jackson, Jim Harbaugh, Sean McDermott, Bruce Arians, Matt LaFleur, among others.
Aside from football, Henrique likes to play poker and Counter-Strike.
