Having an elite NFL head coach can be extremely valuable for any team. They are one of the most important parts of finding success in any season and play a crucial role in complementing the roster that they have to work with. With Week 18 of the 2024 NFL season approaching, here's how all 32 of them stack up in the power rankings.
NFL head coach power rankings entering Week 18
#1 - Andy Reid
Andy Reid is the clear pick for the best current head coach in the NFL. He ranks second all-time in playoff wins, has won three Super Bowl rings with the Kansas City Chiefs and has a 15-1 record this season.

#2 - Kyle Shanahan
The San Francisco 49ers are having a disappointing 2024 NFL season, but that is likely mostly due to their long list of injuries this year. Kyle Shanahan is still one of the best coaches in the league, helping the team make four trips to the NFC championship game and two Super Bowl appearances in just seven years.
#3 - Sean McVay
The Los Angeles Rams have made an impressive turnaround this year, owning a 10-6 record after opening the year by losing four of their first five games. Sean McVay has led them to the playoffs six times in his eight years as their head coach, including two NFL championships and a Super Bowl ring.
#4 - Mike Tomlin
Mike Tomlin has been the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach for 18 seasons and has had a winning record in all of them. His consistent results in his position make him one of the best in the NFL.
#5 - John Harbaugh
The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the most consistently successful teams since John Harbaugh took over as their head coach. He has helped them to reach the playoffs 12 times in 17 years, including winning a ring.
#6 - Kevin O'Connell
The Minnesota Vikings have been one of the surprising teams of the 2024 NFL season. Despite being forced to start backup quarterback Sam Darnold, they are one win away from potentially earning NFC's No. 1 seed. This should be enough to give Kevin O'Connell the Coach of the Year award.
#7 - Sean Payton
Sean Payton is a polarizing head coach, but he has proven the doubters wrong amid his excellent 2024 NFL season. The Denver Broncos are on the verge of making the playoffs with rookie quarterback Bo Nix, giving Payton a chance to add to the postseason resume he accumulated previously with the New Orleans Saints.
#8 - Sean McDermott
The Buffalo Bills have overcome a controversial offseason that saw them move on from many of the top players on both sides of the football. They have responded by clinching the two-seed in the AFC, and Josh Allen is the favorite to win the NFL MVP award.
Sean McDermott has made the playoffs in seven of his first eight years in Buffalo.
#9 - Dan Campbell
Dan Campbell has improved his record with the Detroit Lions in every season as their head coach. He won three, nine and 12 games in his first three years but has already won 14 this season. He also made it to the NFC championship game last year and is one win away from the top seed in the conference this season.
#10 - Nick Sirianni
Nick Sirianni was on the hot seat after the Philadelphia Eagles' epic collapse last year, but they have bounced back with an excellent 2024 NFL season. They are now on their way to their fourth consecutive postseason appearance under the head coach, where they will be the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
