The Los Angeles Chargers will be without star wide receiver Mike Williams as they look to avenge their Week 3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wildcard round of the playoffs tonight.
The Chargers' deep-threat receiver was ruled out yesterday due to a lower back injury suffered against the Denver Broncos last week.
Coach Brandon Staley stated that he considered Week 18 to be a meaningful game and that he wanted to go into the playoffs playing good football. He chose not to rest his starters and paid the price with Williams getting hurt and not playing tonight.
NFL reporter Drew Dinsick bashed Staley on NFL on NBC and called him a liar for how he gave false hopes of Williams’ status for Week 18.

Dinsick said:
"You got your starter, your most important player potentially outside of Herbert hurt, in a meaningless game against the Broncos like Staley deserves a mountain of criticism for the way he has handled the closing moments of the season.”
“And he's just you know, people are still going out of their way to gloss you know, because of recency bias, I guess because he held Nick Foles to three points. Well done Brandon Staley. This to me feels like a mismatch in the coaching department that is the broadest of any of these games because I rate Brandon Staley as the worst coach in the AFC in this playoff field by margin."
He continued:
"He's a lying liar who lies I don't know what to tell you man. I don't like being lied to that Mike Williams is gonna practice this week and he doesn't even practice and and then you come out and you say it's about the rest. The rest? You played in week 18 for no reason. What are you doing you clown!? You could have had a rest advantage in your playoff game and you're at a disadvantage by choice. What an idiot."
Mike Williams will be out for the next 2-3 weeks with his back injury
While Staley gave optimism earlier this week that Williams had a chance at playing, he won’t suit up tonight and is out for at least 2-3 weeks with the injury he sustained.
Herbert will be without his main target for tonight and could be for the Chargers’ playoff run.
Herbert will likely throw more targets at Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler, the two biggest playmakers on offense.
