Justin Fields is dealing with an abdomen injury that he suffered in Pittsburgh's 27-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. He did not practice in any sessions leading up to the Steelers' Week 16 game against the Ravens.

Fields briefly replaced Pittsburgh's starting Russell Wilson in the third quarter against the Eagles. He hurt himself while carrying the ball on his first attempt for 8 yards. The quarterback was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

There are still no reports on whether Fields is ruled out for the rest of the season, and the Steelers will hope to have the quarterback available as soon as possible.

Fields signed for the Steelers this offseason after spending three seasons with the Chicago Bears. He started six games at the start of the 2024 season when Wilson was dealing with a calf injury. Fields led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record, throwing five touchdowns with just one interception.

Fields has been Wilson's backup ever since the veteran signal-caller returned from injury. However, he won't be active for the Steelers in Saturday's game against the Ravens. In Fields' absence, Kyle Allen will serve as the backup to Wilson in Week 16.

The Steelers (10-4) are leading the AFC North and have already qualified for the playoffs. However, Pittsburgh will aim to finish the regular season with a flourish to clinch the divisional title. A win over the Ravens (9-5) in Week 16 will likely boost the Steelers' chances of winning the AFC North.
