New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers enters 2024 as his team's first option wide receiver. The Giants selected Nabers with the sixth pick of the 2024 draft as quarterback Daniel Jones' new running mate.
However, Nabers reportedly suffered an injury setback a few weeks before the start of the 2024 regular season. The rookie left Sunday morning's practice session with an apparent foot injury. Per reports, he removed his left shoe and limped off the field.
Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported Nabers was "reaching down and touching the top outside of his left foot." Jordan Raanan of ESPN provided the latest update on the player, reporting that Nabers has a minor ankle sprain.
The belief is that the injury isn't severe, and the LSU product should be ready for Week 1.

Will Malik Nabers participate in the rest of the preseason?
Malik Nabers did not participate in the Giants' first preseason game of 2024 against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, which New York won 14-3. Due to his injury, it's unlikely that he'll play in any of this year's preseason games.
Ankle injuries, no matter how minor, could prove to be a wide receiver's kryptonite. The Giants have already suffered an early preseason scare with their potential WR1, and it's unlikely that coach Brian Daboll will risk Nabers for the rest of the preseason.
Thus, other pass catchers will have the chance to impress against the Houston Texans and New York Jets. While the Giants won their first preseason game against the Lions, coach Daboll will expect more of the same in Games 2 and 3.
What to expect from Malik Nabers in 2024?
Nabers was one of the top wide receiver prospects of the 2024 NFL draft, alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze. All three players were selected in the top 10, with Nabers arguably the trio's most challenging position.
Nabers joined a Giants team that went 6-11 in 2023 and suffered from inconsistent quarterback play all season. There were even rumors that New York would draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 draft. However, the franchise decided to run it back with Daniel Jones and give him a young new wideout to throw to.
Expect Malik Nabers to be in the conversation for offensive rookie of the year in 2024. His performances could be the difference between the Giants making a postseason push or suffering another disappointing season with Jones as QB1.
