The Los Angeles Rams were defeated by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9. The Buccaneers quarterback drove the offense down the field on eight plays in 35 seconds for a game-winning touchdown. He threw a one-yard touchdown pass to tight end Cade Otten with 13 seconds left in the game. The victory for the Buccaneers snapped their three-game losing streak.

ESPN analyst and former NFL head coach Rex Ryan shared his thoughts on Rams head coach Sean McVay's decision-making on that final drive.

Ryan said:

"So what the hell are you doing? That's still Tom Brady. Yeah. I don't care if he's a shell of a former self, that's still Tom Brady."

McVay and the Rams have lost two consecutive games since coming off their bye week in Week 7. They previously lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8 at SoFi Stadium. For comparison, LA had a record of 7-1 after eight games in the 2021-22 season in which they won the Super Bowl.

This season, Los Angeles are on the outside looking in to make the playoffs. They currently sit with a 3-5 record and are in third place in the NFC West.

Why are the Los Angeles Rams struggling so far this season?

They finished in the top 10 in both points per game and total yards last season. Currently, Los Angeles are 29th in points per game with 16.4 and 31st in total yards. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has struggled under center, throwing eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. The former Detroit Lions star led the NFL in interceptions last season.

Defensively, linebacker Von Miller's presence has been missed this season. He signed with the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Miller joined the reigning Super Bowl champs in 2021 via trade with the Denver Broncos.

McVay is currently in his sixth season as Los Angeles' head coach and his streak of five straight winning seasons is in jeopardy this year.

To avoid his first losing season, he and the Rams must win six of the remaining nine games left this season. Let's see if they pick up a win in Week 10 versus the Arizona Cardinals at home.
