Broderick Bernard Jones is an American Football player who plays as the offensive tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs. He was born in Lithonia, Georgia on 16 May 2001. At present, Jones is a Redshirt Sophomore at Georgia intending to major in Sport Management. He also received the Heyward Allen Football Scholarship.
Broderick Jones is a tall, broad-shouldered offensive tackle with superb athletic skills. His athleticism is a testament to his basketball skills which he picked up in high school. He is able to adjust himself for moving targets with his great body control. Quick recovery with the help of fast feet and loose hips is a plus in his game. Jones does an impeccable job of hunting down second and third level defenders when he is the lead or pull blocker.
However, in spite of his good size and strength, Broderick does have many shortcomings that he will need to fix quickly in order to excel at the summit of the game. As far as his frame and technique are considered, he is not yet the finished product. The reason for this could be that he only has 19 starts under his belt in this position.
Broderick Jones at Lithonia High School
In high school, Broderick was a multi-talented athlete excelling in both basketball as well as football. As a member of the basketball team, he helped lead them to a 21-10 record in his junior year. On the court, he was a skilled post-player.
As for football, he became a dominant offensive lineman. Apart from Georgia University, many other schools were interested in him due to his size and impact on the game. However, Broderick always felt that Georgia was his family and decided to stay with them. Going into College, Jones was a five-star recruit and rated as one of the top 3 offensive linemen in the country.
Broderick Jones at the University of Georgia
Broderick Jones’ Freshman year at Georgia University came in 2020. However, he had already signed with the Bulldogs in 2018. Jones always felt Georgia was his family and loyalty was at the top of his list. Thus, he never swayed and remained with the Bulldogs. Jones is currently majoring in Sports Management at the University of Georgia
In his true Freshman year, Broderick saw very limited game time and thus redshirted. 2021 however, was a completely different story. He was named to the Freshman All-SEC team and he started to attract everyone’s attention. Very early in 2022, during an all important national championship game against Alabama, the Bulldogs decided to make a major change. Their starting left tackle was moved to left guard and Broderick, the redshirt freshman, went to left tackle. He was up against Alabama’s star outside linebacker Will Anderson and he more than held his own throughout the game.
In the 2022 season, Broderick continued and started all the Bulldog’s games at left tackle. He was an instrumental figure in Georgia’s offensive line success. Individually, he didn’t allow any sacks in the entire season. He finished 2022 as a member of a First-Team All-SEC and a two-time CFP national champion (2021 and 2022).
