Joey Porter Jr. is an elite cornerback for the Penn State Nittany Lions Football team. He is a Redshirt Junior and has entered the 2023 NFL draft. Joey Porter Jr. is the older son of Joey Porter Sr. His father was also a former NFL player, although he played as a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals.
Porter Jr. is probably the most physical cornerback in college football currently. He has good hands and knows how to break up passes even in difficult positions. He has very good ball skills. He can compete well with receivers who are bigger in size and he possesses great instincts.
Growing up he was exposed to many NFL games and the various behind the camera work ethics and practices that NFL players go through due to his dad. This has been a blessing in disguise for Joey Jr. as it helped him understand the nitty gritty's of the game.

Joey Jr. attended North Allegheny Senior High School where he was also part of their football team. He played under coach Art Walker under whom he lettered 2 times. In high school, he played both as a cornerback and as a wide receiver. In his Senior year, he was the captain of the team.
Porter Jr. was considered the 4th highest prospect from Pennsylvania’s senior class. Amongst offers from Universities such as Pitt, Maryland, LSU, Miami, Arizona State, West Virginia, and others, Joey Jr. decided to attend Pennsylvania State University.

Joey Porter Jr. enrolled at Penn State University as a good prospect for the cornerback position. In his first year, he only played in 4 games and had just 3 tackles with 1 assist. In his Sophomore year, he saw a bit more action. He played in 8 games overall where he contributed to 28 tackles, 4 assists and 8 stops. In pass coverage, he added 2 pass breakups.
The Junior year was a much better year for the cornerback as he played in all 13 games. He made 46 tackles to go along with 9 assists and also had 14 stops. In coverage, he got the first and only interception of his college career while breaking up 3 passes.
His Senior year was when he had the most success. He took his game to a higher level. Featured in 10 games, he added 4 assists to his 24 tackles and 5 stops. In the secondary, he had 9 pass breakups and allowed a QB rating of 63.6 which was his best ever.
In the educational department, Joey Porter Jr. is majoring in rehabilitation and human services. In future, he desires to take over his mother’s business of a Day Center.
