Stetson Bennett is an American football player who currently plays as a quarterback for the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team. Bennett was born on 28 October, 1997, in Blackshear, Georgia, and attended Pierce County High School where he played football and baseball.

After graduating from high school, Bennett initially committed to play football at Georgia Military College but ultimately decided to walk on at the University of Georgia. He redshirted his first year with the Bulldogs in 2017, and then served as a backup quarterback in 2018 and 2019.

Stetson Bennett at Pierce County High School

Stetson Bennett attended Pierce County High School in Blackshear, Georgia. During his time there, he played football and baseball. As a football player, Bennett was a standout quarterback and helped lead Pierce County to a 9-3 record and the second round of the Georgia High School Association state playoffs in his senior year.

Stetson Bennett was a successful high school football player. As a senior at Pierce County High School, he threw for 3,724 yards and scored 40 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions, while completing 64% of his passes. He was named the Region 2-AAA Offensive Player of the Year and led his team to a 9-3 record and the second round of the Georgia High School Association State playoffs.

Despite his impressive high school stats, Bennett did not receive any major scholarship offers to play college football. Instead, he initially committed to play at Georgia Military College before ultimately walking on at the University of Georgia.

Stetson quickly helped the Bobcats excel on the junior college gridiron. In 2018, the team went 10-2 and won the Mississippi Bowl against East Arizona. Led by Bennett, Jones would also record a Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) South Division Championship and a trip to the championship game. He threw for 1,840 yards with 16 touchdowns while running for 148 yards and four touchdowns. His career-high game in the JuCo ranks was against Northwest Mississippi when he threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns. At the time, 247Sports ranked him as a three-star prospect. Right after, he went back to the University of Georgia.

Stetson Bennett initially redshirted his first year at the University of Georgia in 2017 and then served as a backup quarterback in 2018 and 2019. He did not see much game action during those seasons, but he gained valuable experience practicing with the team and learning the Bulldogs' offensive system.

Bennett finally got his chance to start in 2020 when the Bulldogs' starting quarterback Jamie Newman opted out of the season due to concerns about COVID-19. Bennett emerged as the team's starter and helped lead them to an 8-2 record and a victory in the Peach Bowl. He completed 55.5% of his passes for 2,211 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions during the season.

Bennett has continued as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs in the 2021 season and has helped lead them to the College Football Playoff National Championship game. He has had a strong season, completing 63.3% of his passes for 2,997 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions so far.

In the 2022 season, Bennett passed for more than 4,000 yards and added 37 further touchdowns to his résumé while leading Georgia to its second consecutive national championship.
