A cherished tradition that dates back to the American Civil War, a tailgate is a social event that takes place around a vehicle in the parking lots of stadiums and arenas. It often involves consuming alcoholic beverages while barbecuing food, and for many Americans it’s a staple of the NFL. However, even then, American football cannot lay claim to tailgating as it has its roots in ancient Greece and Rome. And with Super Bowl LIX around the corner, fans are already preparing for yet another official Super Bowl tailgate which will be hosted by YouTube this year.

Who will perform at the Super Bowl tailgate?

As per Billboard, Post Malone is set to perform at the official Super Bowl LIX tailgate that is hosted by YouTube. The artist takes the stage at 4pm ET just steps away from the Caesars Superdome, which is around two hours prior to kickoff. This is the first time YouTube will be hosting the tailgate concert, a tradition that dates back to the pandemic when Miley Cyrus performed at the first one virtually.

What do tailgating people wear?

There is no specific dress code for a tailgate as fans usually wear either their jerseys or casual clothes that they would be wearing to go and watch the game. That is because tailgating is about keeping things casual and people usually wear clothing akin to that.

What happens at a tailgate party?

A tailgate party usually starts hours before the official kickoff and is typically held in stadium/arena parking lots, especially at American football games. Thus, fans arrive hours before the game kicks off in order to transform the parking lot and the areas around their vehicles into a party hub. That includes bringing portable grills, coolers and even lawn chairs in order to set the atmosphere correctly while preparing easy to eat items like burgers, hot dogs and more.

At what time is the Super Bowl tailgate party?

As per Billboard, the official Super Bowl LIX tailgate will begin from 4pm ET, which is two hours before kick-off (6:30pm ET).
