Kirk Cousins is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the league. A fourth-rounder out of Michigan State in 2012, he has led two franchises to the playoffs and established himself as one of the best at rallying a team around him, holding the joint records for most comebacks and fourth-quarter drives in one season - eight each.
On Sunday, his Atlanta Falcons host the Los Angeles Chargers with an opportunity to further solidify their lead in the NFC South at stake. He is currently 2-2 against that franchise, having first lost to them in 2017 when he was still with Washington. He completed 15 of 27 passing attempts for 151 yards and a touchdown against an interception.
In 2018, after two straight years of being franchise-tagged, Cousins joined the Minnesota Vikings. He would dominate the Chargers in his next two games, first in 2019 when he had 19 completions for 207 yards and a touchdown against an interception; then again in 2021 when he completed 25 for 294 and two against zero.
His latest meeting against them was a 2023 loss that saw him complete 32 of 50 passing attempts for 367 yards and three touchdowns - all highs - against an interception.

Kirk Cousins recharged after bye week as Falcons face Chargers
Sunday's game marks the Falcons' return from their bye week. And over that time, Kirk Cousins vacationed in Michigan, where he spent his formative years. As he sat before a bonfire amidst the winter chill, he reflected on the losses that his team has sustained so far.
He said during Friday practice:
"I do know how long the NFL season is... So, I kept reminding myself of that this past week, and I thought it was a great week. That was a great week for me, for my family, and I think we handled the week in a way that should help me feel really good about this stretch run here."
The Chargers boast the league's highest-scoring defense, but that does not intimidate the four-time Pro Bowler. He was busy and mentally focused throughout the day - going through offensive strategies with coordinator Zac Robinson and memorizing plays, as head coach Raheem Morris recalled:
"He's probably one of the more fun people that I've been around coming off byes, or mini byes. Going into anything big, he puts his thoughts together, he sits it down on the paper... He's awesome in those ways because everybody wants to have that relationship with their quarterback, and Kirk won't let you not have that relationship with him."
This game kicks off at 1 PM ET on CBS and Kirk Cousins will hope to better his record with a win.
