The seat in the NFL that is the most vulnerable and sees many changes is that of the head coach of any team. This year, 10 NFL franchises hired new head coaches before entering the 2022 season. The year before, there were seven changes in the same position.

The 2022 season was just mid-way through, and the league saw one of its head coaches getting fired already. The Carolina Panthers dismissed their head coach, Matt Rhule, before entering Week 6. The reason being a poor start to the season. The Panthers currently have a record of 2-6.

But the real question is, who will be the next head coach to be dismissed by an NFL franchise? The teams that recently hired someone to rebuild their team will maintain some patience, at least till the end of the 2022 season. But some head coaches who cannot meet the expectations might suffer the same consequences as Rhule.

Let's take a look at three head coaches who are already in the hot seat in the 2022 season.

#3 Nathaniel Hackett – Broncos

Nathaniel Hackett
Nathaniel Hackett

In 2022, Nathaniel Hackett entered his first season with the Denver Broncos as their 18th head coach in franchise history. Since then, things have been going badly for the Broncos. Eight weeks later, the Broncos have a 3-5 record that places them third in the AFC West division.

Hackett has eight years of experience as the offensive coordinator at the NFL level, yet the Broncos struggle in their offensive play. Given the heavy investment in starting QB Russell Wilson, the Broncos would like to see some results.

The Broncos have a history of quick firings and short tenures, and Hackett could fall for the same if the team doesn't put up a good winning record.

#2 Kliff Kingsbury – Cardinals

Kliff Kingsbury signed a six-year contract extension with the Cardinals in the 2022 offseason. He led the Cardinals to a 11-6 record and an NFC wild-card playoff berth last season.

Then how come he ended up on this list? The Cardinals, who went 7-0 in their first seven weeks last season, are now 3-5 after eight weeks in 2022.

He has been a decent hire and has been with the Cardinals since 2019. He has a win/loss record of 27-29-1 with the Cardinals and if he does not win more games regularly, he might lose his job.

#1 Frank Reich – Colts

Frank Reich
Frank Reich

Frank Reich has been the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts since 2018. The Colts are already unhappy with him since the team didn't make it to the playoffs last season after a disappointing Week 18 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In his last four NFL seasons, he has helped the Colts reach the playoffs twice and has just one playoff win.

Reich holds a 40-31 record with the franchise and is experiencing one of his worst seasons in the league. Indianapolis is 3-4-1 this season and is struggling on the offensive end. Things are looking bad for the Colts and the time has arrived to hire a new head coach for the team.
