The NFL Combine will begin with its on-field drills on Thursday, March 2. To kickstart the event, defensive linemen and linebackers will have their chance to flaunt their strength and athleticism in front of NFL executives and coaches to try and raise their draft stock.

According to reports, the average height and weight for a linebacker entering the league is 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds.

Linebackers usually don’t have the longest wingspans. Hence, it's not alarming if a prospect lacks length.

Instead, they are chosen based on instincts. Nonetheless, the best players in the NFL are usually the most explosive athletes.

The broad and vertical jumps are two drills that will measure a linebacker's athletic ability. Meanwhile, a short shuttle in combination with a 40-yard dash should give everyone a gist of a player's speed, how he shifts his hip depth, hip angle and the changes in direction.

Additionally, the top speed and explosiveness of a linebacker will also give NFL teams an idea of whether he has the potential to become a good tackler.
