In his brief NFL career, Stanley Wilson Jr. played for the Detroit Lions. The former Stanford University alum was one of the finest defensive prospects in his draft class, and the Lions selected him in the third round of the 2005 draft.

Wilson Jr. was worth an estimated $1 million at the time of his death. He earned that as a cornerback while playing for the Detroit Lions in the NFL. Unfortunately, his time in the league was short-lived, as the Lions let him go after three seasons, and he never played another game following his release.

Stanley Wilson Jr.'s Career Timeline

Stanley Wilson Jr. started his competitive football career in the late '90s when he played for Torrance (CA) Bishop Montgomery High School. He developed a reputation as a versatile defender and more-than-capable attacker.

His first year at Stanford could have been more productive, as he redshirted his first year on the college football team. Following his redshirt season, he played four seasons on the Stanford Cardinals football team from 2001 to 2004. He rounded up his time with the Cardinals with All-Pac-10 honors.

NFL scouts took notice of Stanley Wilson's talent and he was ultimately selected in the third round by the Detroit Lions, quickly slotting into their rotation. He put up a stat line of 10 tackles in his nine debut season games with the Lions.

His sophomore season was even better, as the Stanford University alum put up 38 tackles in 13 games. Wilson Jr. subsequently posted 38 tackles in 10 games in his third and final season with the Lions. Unfortunately, he sustained a career-ending Achilles tendon injury in an exhibition game preceding his fourth season, thus ending a promising NFL career.
