Ezekiel Elliott didn't have the best of seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. The running back helped the team reach the divisional round, where they were eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers as Dallas missed out on reaching the NFC championship game for the 28th year in a row.
Nonetheless, Elliott has signaled that he wants to continue playing his football in Dallas. On Monday, reports said that the 27-year-old is open to taking a pay cut in order to stay with the team next season.
Elliott signed a blockbuster six-year, $90 million contract extension with the Cowboys in 2019. He still has two seasons left with the team and will become a free agent in the 2025 offseason.
Elliott is set to make $10.9 million in 2023 but will look to negotiate his recently extended contract. This follows a season that saw statistical lows and Tony Pollard emerge as the team’s running back of the future.

Elliott spoke about his future after Sunday's loss to San Francisco:
“I’ve definitely thought about it. I want to be here. I don’t have a crystal ball; I can’t tell you the future. But I definitely want to be here.”
How did Ezekiel Elliott fare this season?
Ezekiel Elliott recorded 876 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns on 231 carries. The running back also had 92 yards on 17 receptions across 15 regular-season games.
While Elliott was able to score a good number of touchdowns, he wasn't able to hit the level he held in previous seasons. More so, the three-time Pro Bowler has been linked with a move away from the Cowboys due to the emergence of Tony Pollard.
It will be interesting to see whether Dallas will opt to keep or trade Elliott during the offseason. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may decide to make a few changes to his team in order to push for the Super Bowl.
