The Dallas Cowboys will lock horns with the San Francisco 49ers in their crunch NFC divisional round matchup on Sunday. Jerry Jones will be hoping that his Dallas outfit makes it to the NFC Championship game for the first time since the 1995 season.
Incidentally, that was also the campaign when the Cowboys won the NFC Championship game as they went on to win the Super Bowl. Dallas beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Championship game by a score of 27-17 to win their fifth Super Bowl title.
Since their last Super Bowl triumph, Dallas has a 5-11 record in the postseason. Their only wins in the playoffs have come in 1996, 2009, 2014, 2018, and most recently in 2023, when they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.

It's been a total of 27 years since the Cowboys have reached the Championship game. However, Mike McCarthy's side will have the chance to end that drought when they visit Levi's Stadium on Sunday.
How did the Dallas Cowboys make it to the NFC divisional round this season?
The Dallas Cowboys finished second in the NFC East with a 12-5 record in the regular season. Dallas then eliminated Tom Brady's Buccaneers in the Wild Card round on Monday to qualify for the divisional round.
The Cowboys looked sharp against Tampa Bay as Dak Prescott managed 305 passing yards and four touchdowns. The quarterback will once again be the key for Dallas to advance to the Championship game.
However, Dallas will need their defense to step up in this final stretch of the postseason. The Niners offense has looked as good as ever with Brock Purdy at quarterback. Purdy has led San Francisco to six wins already but will face another stern test against Dallas on Sunday.
It's safe to say that we will be in for a thrilling contest to close out the divisional round.
