Famed actor Mark Wahlberg revealed that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wasn't a fan of his hit TV show Ballers. Centered around the NFL and everything that life entails as an NFL player, many saw the show as an inside look at the dealings of the league.
With so many current and former NFL players making cameos on the show that included Terrell Suggs, fans loved every minute of the show. But not the commissioner.

In an interview with Mike Golec of ESPN six years ago, Wahlberg recounted how when the show first started, it was hard to get players to appear on it. He also revealed that he had the commissioner and several NFL owners ring him about using players in cameos.
Wahlberg said:
“The first season of the show, the only calls I was getting were from guys like Roger Goodell saying you can’t do this and various owners in the league. And what we’re saying it's actually a good thing for the league and for the player."
"Because hopefully you kind of get the word out there with the crazy stuff and the financial side of it. That you hopefully get these guys to realize that they have to be more careful with what they do with their money.”
Mark Wahlberg's Ballers lasted five seasons
Despite Roger Goodell and several NFL owners' reservations about the show, Ballers lasted five seasons before declining viewership saw the show end.
With Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson the leading man, many fans flocked to watch the series early on. Several past and present NFL players appeared on the show, including Antonio Brown, DeSean Jackson, Don Shula, Larry Csonka, Jason Taylor, Ndamukong Suh, Julian Edelman, Eddie George, and Mark Schlereth.
Five seasons is certainly a good run for a TV show, especially one that's NFL-centric. What it did show, as Wahlberg said in his interview, is the other side of the league. Not many see it and it was good to see the other side of the biggest sporting league on the planet -- even if Goodell didn't exactly want it.
