Patrick Mahomes already had a strong arm in high school. The Kansas City Chiefs kept a close eye on the quarterback during his college years at Texas Tech.

The Chiefs eventually picked Mahomes 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. It's safe to say that it was one of the best decisions Kansas City made in their franchise history.

Mahomes spent his rookie season with the Chiefs as a backup to Alex Smith. He was named the team's starter in 2018 after Kansas City traded Smith to Washington.

In his first season as a starter, Mahomes set the franchise record for most passing yards. He racked up an emphatic 5,097 yards with 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions throughout the regular season, helping the Chiefs win the divisional title.

In his NFL career, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to five divisional titles, three AFC titles, and two Super Bowls. The 27-year-old is already the most successful quarterback in Kansas City history.
