"It was the cutest thing in the world": When Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany revealed the exact moment she 'fell in love' with Chiefs QB

Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, have been sweethearts since their high school days at Whitehouse High School, Whitehouse, Texas.

Mahomes played basketball, baseball and football while Brittany played soccer. Since then, they have been together and are still going strong, all the while waiting for their third child.

Although Patrick has always liked Brittany, she wasn’t always into him until a particular gesture swept her off her feet. In a video series titled ‘Elite Leader Series’ for Vitality, Brittany revealed the exact moment she fell for Mahomes.

“So, then I think his sophomore year, my junior year, he brought this little Valentine's gift for me at lunch one day. It was like a heart-shaped card that said, ‘Happy Valentine's Day,’ like a rose or something, and he just like, brought it to me as a funny joke. But I thought it was the cutest thing in the world.”

It was like every teenage love story, starting from the high school cafeteria around school friends. But our protagonist, Patrick, showed courage to ask out Brittany in front of everyone. After all, he has always been a confident lad, but even he needed some help from friends for the next step.

“Everyone in the cafeteria started chanting like, ‘Kiss her, kiss her,’ to him, and I was like, ‘Okay, this is embarrassing,’" Brittany continued. "From then on, I think that's where I just kind of started getting a crush on him, and then, boom, we just fell in love.”

It wasn’t revealed if they actually kissed in the cafeteria, but this was the beginning of a happy journey for them. More so for Patrick, who struggled to break out of the forever-friend zone of Brittany.

Patrick Mahomes moves out of Brittany's friend-zone list

In an episode of the Netflix series titled ‘Quarterback,’ Mahomes revealed that he was Brittany’s best friend in high school, just like his other friends.

"We kinda met in seventh, eighth grade," Patrick said. "She was the grade above me. I was kind of the best friend, in the friend zone forever.”

His wife confirmed the story to be true during her interview as she narrated:

“So, Patrick, he is my best friend in the whole world. We met in high school, his freshman year, my sophomore year. He just became one of my best friends, like all of his other friends were, but I never liked him. We were just best friends.”

However, Brittany was soon impressed by Mahomes’ talent in sport, a common area of interest for both. Now, the couple is happily married with two kids and a third on the way.
