Nick Chubb's return to the field is getting very near, as Cleveland Browns' coach Kevin Stefanski shared an update on the running back's comeback on Wednesday. Stefanski indicated he is open to the idea of activating Chubb for the team's Week 6 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Browns Insider Mary Kay Cabot's post on X.

In response to a question about whether he would activate Nick Chubb for the game on Friday, Stefanski said:

"Anything is possible, but with Nick I don't want to get too far beyond today.”

Chubb, who has been sidelined since sustaining a severe knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season, reached a major milestone in his rehabilitation by returning to practice last week. The Browns placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list at the start of the season, which required him to miss at least the first four games.

While he did return to practice last week, it is expected that he will need more time to fully recover, making it unlikely that the Browns will activate him before Week 6.

Although a specific return date for Chubb is still unknown, he appears to be getting closer to a comeback. Reports suggest that the Browns may hold off putting him on the field for a couple of weeks untill he has used up his allotted time for practice.

Nick Chubb injury update: What happened to the Browns' RB?

Nick Chubb underwent a season-ending surgery for a knee injury he had in Week 2 of the 2023 season. The procedure involved repairing damage to his ACL, as well as treatments to repair his meniscus, medial capsule, and MCL from a previous injury.

Neither Chubb himself nor the Browns have stated when the 28-year-old running back will be fully fit again.

When asked how his knee was healing prior to his second practice last Thursday, Chubb responded:

"It felt good. I've been doing things on my own for a while now, so I've been used to everything I've done out there. It feels good."

Even if Chubb's response isn't particularly detailed, it's still positive news for a guy who has been sidelined for a year due to a horrific knee injury.
