Jared Verse is an American football defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams as of the 2024 NFL season. The Los Angeles Rams selected him with the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The September 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Month was born in Dayton, Ohio, United States, but grew up in Berwick, Pennsylvania. Coming from Dayton, Ohio, he pursued his education at Central Columbia High School, where he actively participated in football, playing roles as both a tight end and defensive end for the school's football team. Verse was an incredible asset to the programs that he played for and he won multiple individual awards such as 2× first-team All-American in 2022 and 2023, 2× first-team All-ACC in 2022, and 2023, CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, First-team All-CAA in 2021, and Second-team All-CAA in 2020.

Jared Verse College Career

Jared attended the Albany Great Danes College and later Florida State University. His initial year at the institution, 2019, was spent as a redshirt while he acquainted himself with this new position. Remarkably, the period between the onset of the COVID-19 shutdown and January 2021 saw Verse's transformation as he managed to pack on 40 pounds. His breakthrough moments began to unfold during the 2021 spring season, a period in which he showcased his skills impressively, leading to him winning the title of CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Verse started his college football career playing for the Albany Great Danes in 2019. However, he redshirted his true freshman season. The following season in 2020, Verse put up 22 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and a forced fumble while playing in only four games due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In 2021, Verse had 53 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble. Subsequently, Verse started a new chapter by entering the transfer portal and ultimately joining Florida State.

Playing for the Seminoles in 2022, Verse played in 12 games and tallied 48 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and a fumble recovery. For his final season with Florida in 2023, Verse played in 12 games and recorded 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 2 pass deflections, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

During Jared Verse's college days at Albany, he pursued a major in engineering.

Where did Jared Verse play high school football?

Jared Verse played his high school football at Central Columbia, located in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Verse played on both defense and offense in his senior year, recording 15 receptions for 385 yards at tight end and 14 tackles with three forced fumbles. He also participated in track and basketball for the Bluejays and won a state title with the 4x400 relay squad.
