Tyrann Mathieu, born May 13, 1992, is an American professional football safety for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. Known as "the Honey Badger," a nickname reflecting his tenacious playing style, Mathieu first gained fame at LSU where he set an SEC record with 11 career forced fumbles and earned consensus All-American honors. Despite being dismissed from LSU due to a violation of team rules, Mathieu made a strong comeback by being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
