Jeremy Reaves is a free safety and special teamer for the Washington Commanders. He's been in the NFL for five years, but his path hasn't been simple. He has been released four times in the last five years, once by the Philadelphia Eagles and thrice by the Washington Commanders.

Jeremy Reaves was born on August 29, 1996, in Pensacola, Florida, to parents Michael Reaves and Rose Price. The NFL safety is close to his mother, and both of his parents are enthusiastic about his football career.

Rose Price was a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force. Price has been her son's rock throughout his collegiate football days. Jeremy's father, Michael Reaves, was an Army sergeant. Following his retirement from the service, Michael worked as a police officer for 25 years.

Starting with his final three seasons at South Alabama, Jeremy Reaves had an excellent college career, winning awards along the way. He was voted Second Team All-Sun Belt in his sophomore year and was second on his team in tackles. He was one of just two juniors named on the defense for the First Team All-Sun Belt selection the following year.

Reaves really made a name for himself during his senior year, performing admirably enough to be voted the 2017 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. Washington Commanders v Chicago Bears

Reaves, a South Alabama native and an undrafted free agent, signed with the Eagles in 2018. Unfortunately, he lost his job with the team despite signing a three-year, $1.71 million contract. He has been on and off Washington's practice squad since the Eagles released him.

Reaves made his NFL debut on December 22, 2018, playing against the Tennessee Titans. Washington released him before the start of the subsequent season, but he was re-signed, added to the active roster, and then released again.

At one point, Jeremy Reaves thought about quitting. But he thanks his mother, who stood like a rock and never lost faith in him. Reaves' mother passed away last year before Thanksgiving, upending his world.

The 26-year-old safety's NFL campaign this year was unique. Jeremy Reaves was included for the first time on the Commanders' final roster following training camp for the 2022–2023 season.
