Allen had a disappointing start to his Wyoming career, and it wasn't his fault. Allen suffered a season-ending injury after two contests in the 2015 collegiate football season. He ended the year with 4-of-6 passing for 51 passing yards and three rushes for 40 rushing yards.
The 2016 season was more positive as Allen helped guide Wyoming to the Mountain Division title and a place in the Mountain West Conference championship game. Allen showed out in his second season at Wyoming, ranking No. 1 in the Mountain West in passing yards per completion (15.33 yards).
He amassed 28 passing touchdowns, seven rushing touchdowns, five games of 300+ yards of total offense and a remarkable 3,726 yards of total offense (third in program history).
Allen closed out his collegiate football career with another impressive season in 2017. The dual-threat QB threw 16 touchdown passes and only six picks in 2017 as a junior. With him as quarterback, the Wyoming offense ranked No. 1 in the Mountain West and No. 2 in the country in red-zone offense. He was the MVP of the 2017 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
How has Josh Allen fared in the NFL?
The Buffalo Bills were enamored by Josh Allen's arm strength and impressive physical tools. So much so that they drafted him as the seventh overall selection of the 2018 draft.
Allen has since led the league in total touchdowns and yards in 2023, finished second in MVP voting in 2020 and earned two Pro Bowl selections in his seven-year NFL career.
Allen has built on the dual-threat tools he showcased at Reedley Community College and the University of Wyoming. He is now a true rushing touchdown threat on coach Sean McDermott's offense and one of the league's best passers. All that's left now is for Allen to lead the Bills to a Super Bowl game and help guide the franchise to its first championship.
