Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers and NFC looks on during the 2023 NFL Pro Bowl Games

Running back Christian McCaffrey joined Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig as the only players to achieve 1,000 yards receiving and rushing in the same season, doing so with the Carolina Panthers in 2019.

McCaffrey needed 67 receiving yards to attain the landmark, which was initially accomplished by Craig in 1985 and subsequently by Faulk in 1999, before entering the last regular-season game of the 2019 campaign against the New Orleans Saints.

Late in the third quarter, he achieved the feat with a reception of 17 yards, giving him precisely 67 yards, and concluded the contest with seven receptions for 72 yards, giving him 1,005 receiving yards for the year.

In addition to having a 1,000/1,000 season, McCaffrey managed 2,392 yards from scrimmage, placing third on the list of leaders.

Roger Craig was the first player to record 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards receiving in a season

Roger Craig was a running back for the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers. He represented the 49ers in three Super Bowls and four Pro Bowls. He was the first player to accumulate 1,000 yards in both rushing and receiving in a single season.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Craig in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft as the 49th overall pick out of Nebraska. He made history by becoming the first player to ever score three TDs in a Super Bowl during the 49ers' 38-16 win against the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XIX. He also gained 58 yards on the ground and 77 yards on seven receptions in that game.

Craig made NFL history the following year when he ran and caught at least 1,000 yards in a single season. In addition to leading the NFL with 92 receptions for 1,016 yards and 15 scores, he also rushed for 1,050 yards on 214 attempts.

Marshall Faulk became the second player in NFL history to record a 1,000/1,000 season. He gained 1,381 yards on the ground in 1999 while adding 1,048 yards on 87 receptions.

In 1994, Faulk made his NFL debut with the Indianapolis Colts. In his debut season, he won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Faulk reached his 1,000-yard rushing and receiving milestone in his first year with the St. Louis Rams. It was part of an NFL-record four straight seasons with 2,000 or more total yards.

The Rams were an offensive juggernaut from 1999 to 2001. They broke multiple passing and total yardage marks. Faulk found himself at the heart of it all.

He amassed 6,765 total offensive yards from 1999 to 2001, won three Offensive Player of the Year honors and the MVP award, adding 59 scores in those three years.
