The greatest quarterbacks in NFL history are judged by different metrics, but their passer rating is one of the most significant stats. It takes all of their passing contributions and incorporates them into one number to demonstrate their efficiency and production. Interestingly, 10 of the top 11 QBs in career passer rating are still active, including the top five.

#5 - Russell Wilson - 99.8

Russell Wilson may be past his prime at this point of his NFL career, but he was consistently one of the best QBs in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. He ranks among the top five ever in career passer rating and led the NFL in that category once, while also being the touchdown leader in another season.

#4 - Joe Burrow - 101.2

Joe Burrow is one of only four QBs in NFL history to have a career passer rating above 100 in his young career with the Cincinnati Bengals. While he has never been the season leader, he has exceeded a 100 passer rating in three of his five seasons. He also led the NFL in passing yards and TDs in the 2024 campaign, while completing more than 70 percent of his passes.

#3 - Lamar Jackson - 102.0

Lamar Jackson led the entire NFL with a 119.6 passer rating this season. This could play a role in him potentially winning his third NFL MVP award in the past six years. He was already selected as a first-team All-Pro for the third time, and in each of the past two seasons he received this honor, he was also named the MVP, which could be a sign of the award's outcome.

#2 - Patrick Mahomes - 102.1

Patrick Mahomes holds the slightest edge over Jackson in career passer rating as his is just a tenth of a point superior. Like Jackson, he has also won two NFL MVP awards, but he has three Super Bowl rings to go with it. Mahomes has had a 92.6 passer rating or better in each of his seven seasons as a starter and has twice led the NFL in TD passes.

#1 - Aaron Rodgers - 102.6

Aaron Rodgers has the highest career passer rating in NFL history, despite his disappointing 2024 season with the New York Jets. His previous run with the Green Bay Packers was legendary, including winning four NFL MVP awards. He has led the NFL in passer rating four times and his career 1.4 interception percentage is the best in league history, along with 503 TD passes.
