Which teams don't have a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft?

2022 NFL Draft - Round 1
Kansas City Chiefs fans cheer during round one of the 2022 NFL Draft

The top 31 selections in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft have already been determined.

Following a significant deal with the Chicago Bears, the No. 1 selection is now in the hands of the Carolina Panthers. Before the start of the draft, a few other clubs have the chance to make significant moves.

There will be 31 selections in the first round this year due to the Miami Dolphins losing their slot due to tampering charges. The Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and the Philadelphia Eagles are each set to make two first-round picks.

The Dolphins are in a challenging position heading into the 2023 NFL draft. They only have four selections in total.

Due to an examination into the side's alleged violation of league rules for meddling with quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Sean Payton, they forfeited their first-round selection and a third-round selection in 2024. The organization doesn't own a first-, fourth-, or fifth-round selection this year.

The San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Los Angeles Rams will also be left out in the first round. The Denver Broncos will get a first-round pick thanks to a transaction that sent Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins in exchange for the 49ers' 2023 first-round selection.

The Rams haven't selected a player on the first day of the NFL draft since 2016, and they won't again until 2024 (with the Detroit Lions taking their sixth-overall choice this April).

After trading several draft selections to Houston in a trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Browns are also without a first-round selection this year.

The 49ers gave up their first-round pick in 2021, as well as first-round selections in the 2022 and 2023 editions, to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the No. 3 pick two years ago. Also, earlier in the 2017–18 season, the 49ers traded Christian McCaffrey to the Carolina Panthers for their second-, third-, and fourth-round picks.
