Hendon Hooker is an American football quarterback for the Detroit Lions as of the 2024 NFL season. The Lions selected him with the 68th overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hooker did not play in any games during the 2023 season. He made his NFL debut in Week 6 of the 2024 season, leading the team to a 47–9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. As of Week 18, 2024, he has recorded 62 passing yards and a passer rating of 86.3 (via Pro Football Reference).
Hooker first attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), where he played college football from 2017 to 2020. He later transferred to the University of Tennessee, where he completed his college career. According to Sports Reference, he finished his collegiate career with 8,974 passing yards, 80 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Before committing to Virginia Tech, he played high school football at James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.
