Brett Rypien serves as the Denver Broncos' backup QB in the NFL. The Boise State University alum is behind superstar Russell Wilson on the Broncos' QB depth chart.
Rypien has been with the Broncos since the start of his NFL career, as he was signed as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2020 season. Since then, he has slowly crept up the depth chart to become second to Russell Wilson.
Brett Rypien might not be playing a lot of snaps for the Broncos, but the year-three QB is a legend at Boise State University, where he holds almost all the quarterback records.
Coming into the league, Rypien was pegged as a probable sixth or seventh-round draft pick. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, as he was overlooked by the teams and went undrafted. Since then, Rypien has picked himself up and carved out a a place in the NFL by being a reliable option for the Broncos when their primary shot caller is out.

Brett Rypien's Fantasy Outlook
Backup quarterbacks not named Jimmy Garoppolo hardly ever make splashes in the NFL Fantasy League. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that Brett Rypien is ranked as a lowly 53rd amongst all active QBs in the league. He hardly ever takes any snaps for the Broncos; when he does, there's hardly anything special.
Rypien replaced a concussed Russell Wilson in the Broncos' Week 14 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs and put in an average performance under center. He connected on four out of eight passes for 16 yards, a touchdown, and a pick.
The rest of his game basically saw him hand off the ball to running backs. The game ended in a 34-28 loss for the Broncos against a rampant Chiefs side. Rypien will have to pick himself up for the Broncos' next game against the Arizona Cardinals, which will likely be more evenly matched than the Kansas City baptism of fire.
