Billboard reported that in 2022, the Super Bowl halftime show reached its peak popularity with a record-breaking 112.3 million viewers. Millions tuned in to see performances by Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem.
There is little question that the NFL's grand finale halftime show is significant for more reasons than just its entertainment value. Initially, the show's main goals were to introduce new players, pass the time, and amuse spectators during the halftime break. Today, the program serves as a launching pad for creative careers and gives numerous companies access to millions of viewers for advertising.
The University of Arizona marching band served as the first finale's main halftime attraction. They presented a complex performance that featured jetpacks, pigeons, and homages to the marriage of the AFL and the NFL, the four corners of the United States, and historical events.
