At the time, Kurt was a senior at the University of Northern Iowa, on the path to getting drafted into the National Football League. Brenda was fresh off a divorce and wasn't looking for a new relationship. However, as faith would have it, they kept in touch.
According to People, Kurt asked a friend for his future wife Brenda's address and went to her house a day after they met on the dance floor. She promptly introduced the quarterback to her 3-year-old Zack. Kurt and Zack hit it off immediately, and like they say, the rest is history.
