Colts name Parks Frazier as their new offensive play caller amid week of change
Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay made multiple splashes this week. He not only fired head coach Frank Reich but also made an interesting decision in hiring an interim coach. He chose former Colts center Jeff Saturday, who doesn't have any head coaching experience, to lead the team for the remainder of the season.
The next order of business was deciding who would call the plays on offense. Reich fired offensive coordinator Marcus Brady last week and the Colts lost their only two staff members who were offensive play callers. On Tuesday, the team announced that Parks Frazier would take over the role. He has been the assistant quarterbacks coach since the beginning of last season.
Frazier was hired by the Colts in 2018 to be Frank Reich's assistant. In 2020 he became the offensive quality coach before being promoted to work with the quarterbacks.
Frazier began his coaching journey in 2015 after graduating from Murray State, where he played college football. Frazier was the defensive quality control coach at Samford and Middle Tennessee State in 2015. In 2016 he was hired as a Graduate Assistant at Arkansas State, a position he held until 2017.
The 30 year old will now face his biggest test in the midst of his coaching career. Calling plays for a Colts offense that has had a tumultuous start to the 2022 NFL season.
