The Miami Dolphins still had Mike White, Skylar Thompson and Tua Tagovailoa under contract entering the 2024 NFL offseason, so the quarterback position was undoubtedly low on the team's list of priorities. Yet, the Dolphins still signed undrafted free agent Gavin Hardison, a quarterback who took part in the team's May minicamp.

Miami's starting quarterback, Tagovailoa, is set to play in his rookie contract's final season in 2024. The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback ended last season with a career-high 4,624 yards, 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

It is still unclear if Tagovailoa and the Dolphins can come to an agreement on a new deal before the season begins, but he is still expected to start in 2024, and he seems to be making every effort this offseason to improve upon his impressive output from the previous campaign.

After a short fight for the place with Skylar Thompson, the Dolphins chose Mike White as their backup quarterback just before the 2023 campaign. That should remain the case during the 2024 season, barring any injuries.

White started seven games combined for the New York Jets throughout the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He completed over 60% of his throws for 1,943 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Regarding Thompson, he was chosen by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft. He had three starts as a rookie that year, one of which came in the Dolphins' wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins signed 12 undrafted free agents in April, including quarterback Gavin Hardison. The 24-year-old quarterback attended UTEP for five years, where he completed 570 passes for 7,962 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Will quarterback Tua Tagovailoa stay with the Dolphins beyond 2024 season?

Tua Tagovailoa set a new career high with 29 touchdown passes and led the league in passing yards (4,624) in 2023. The Miami Dolphins star was constantly in the conversation of who could win the league's MVP until the team's late-season collapse.

Tagovailoa's rookie contract will run out after 2024, thus if he is not extended, he may become a free agent next year. However, the Dolphins have the option to use the franchise tag if they see Tagovailoa as their quarterback going forward.

The Dolphins' level of confidence in Tua Tagovailoa will ultimately be the determining factor, but judging by all the signals they've sent during the offseason, it seems like they're still figuring out how much the quarterback's services should cost them.
