The Washington Commanders had little hope of making it to the NFC Conference Final going into the 2024 NFL season. With a rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels and a new head coach in Dan Quinn, the team's main objective was to make improvements on their dismal 2023 season.
At this point, the Commanders have surpassed those targets, achieving an impressive 12-5 record in the regular season and making it through the wild-card and divisional games.
The Commanders will make their first appearance in the NFC Conference Championship since 1991. To earn a spot in the Super Bowl for the first time in more than three decades, the team will need to beat their fierce divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Sunday.
Let's take a look at the officials overseeing the Commanders' NFC Championship game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Referees for the NFC Championship game revealed
The following officials will be in charge of the Commanders vs. Eagles game in the NFC Championship matchup:
Head Referee: Shawn Hochuli
Umpire: Terry Killens
Down Judge: Patrick Holt
Line Judge: Tim Podraza
Field Judge: Jason Ledet
Side Judge: Jim Quirk
Back Judge: Jimmy Russell
Replay Official: Jamie Nicholson
Replay Assistant: Adam Choate
Hochuli is in his seventh season as a referee, but his 11th season as an NFL official. This will be his maiden conference championship contest as a referee, even though he has refereed eight postseason contests in his career. This will also be the third time he will officiate a game involving the two NFC East sides.
Fans of the Eagles will be hoping Hochuli remains their lucky charm since the team is 6-1 when he serves as the referee. However, in the games Hochuli has called as the referee, the Commanders are 1-3.
Hochuli oversaw 16 games overall in the 2024 season, where he and his team issued 13.8 penalties per game, which is much higher than the NFL average for referees. Additionally, they place third among all refereeing crews in the league for the 2024 season with nine roughing the passer penalties.
In Hochuli's last postseason contest, the Kansas City Chiefs victory over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional playoffs in the 2023 season, he and his crew only threw the flags on seven occasions.
The Commanders and Eagles will play each other for the third time this season.
