The NFL regular season is about to end, and with that, most teams know their playoff fate. Some teams have lived up to expectations and will participate in the playoffs at the turn of the year, while others have fallen well below expectations.
Before Week 17, let's examine the teams eliminated from the NFL playoffs.

AFC
New York Jets - 4-11
The New York Jets are the most disappointing team in the AFC. The Aaron Rodgers-led side has been out of their misery as they've been eliminated from the playoffs.
Cleveland Browns - 3-12
The Cleveland Browns playoff fate was shaky from Day 1, but Deshaun Watson's mid-season injury was the final nail in their hopes. Jameis Winston came in but couldn't cut it, and Kevin Stefanski's team must now pick up the pieces.
Jacksonville Jaguars - 3-12
The Jacksonville Jaguars made the postseason last season, but this year was abysmal for Trevor Lawrence and Co. It would be surprising if Doug Pederson retains his job once the regular season ends.
Tennessee Titans - 3-12
The Tennessee Titans released Derrick Henry and fired Mike Vrabel in the last offseason. Henry is playing some of the best football of his career with the Ravens, while Vrabel is a highly sought-after coach in the current market. Now, the Titans are in the Travis Hunter sweepstakes.
Las Vegas Raiders - 3-12
The Las Vegas Raiders' tumultuous season worsens as they're eliminated from the postseason. The oft-maligned franchise has a lot of work to do in free agency and via the 2025 draft (queue Shedeur Sanders, anyone?).
New England Patriots - 3-12
The New England Patriots won't be pressed about not making the postseason in Jerod Mayo's first season as head coach. Drake Maye has looked like their quarterback for now and in the future. The defense is showing promise and looking up for Robert Kraft's franchise.
NFC
Dallas Cowboys - 7-8
Jerry Jones said the Cowboys were going all in before the season started. However, after a questionable 2024 draft, little to no major moves in free agency and an injury crisis, the Dallas Cowboys have been eliminated from postseason contention, and it's not even the final week of the regular season.
Arizona Cardinals - 7-8
The Arizona Cardinals showed promise at various points this season but couldn't make it out of a tough conference. At least Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kyler Murray can reflect on a season of learning while potentially forming one of the league's fiercest WR-QB duos.
San Francisco 49ers - 6-9
The San Francisco 49ers entered the year as favorites to come out of the NFC and return to the Super Bowl. However, injuries truncated their hopes, thereby assuring the NFC has a new representative in this season's Super Bowl game.
New Orleans Saints - 5-9
The New Orleans Saints are out of the picture even before their Week 16 Monday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers.
Chicago Bears - 4-11
From having the most ideal situation ever for a rookie quarterback to having one of the league's worst losing streaks, the Caleb Williams-led Chicago Bears will want to put this season in their rearview mirror.
Carolina Panthers - 4-11
The Carolina Panthers have been out of the postseason picture for some time now, but their performance in Week 16 should encourage their fan base. Bryce Young looks to be back to his 'Bama form, and Dave Canales has lived up to his reputation as a quarterback whisperer. What's next for the Panthers? Maybe a long-awaited deep postseason run in 2025.
New York Giants - 2-13
The New York Giants have the worst record in the league and are in prime position to draft either Shedeur Sanders or Cameron Ward. It's dicey times in New York for the Giants and their front office.
