Tight ends have traditionally been the most challenging fantasy football position to navigate, but they have been on the rise in recent seasons. Except for a few elite starters, it can sometimes be difficult to find reliable options. That may be changing as the younger generation of players in the position have been proving to be valuable contributors.
Some of the most notable tight ends that appear to be on their way to being superstars include Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid and Trey McBride. They all rank inside of the top 10 fantasy football TEs for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. All three have demonstrated a recent history of success and appear to be locked into a large workload this year.
Some of the other best options in this position have been toward the top of the rankings for the majority of their careers, including veterans Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews and George Kittle. Andrews is looking to bounce back from an injury-shortened season last year. He is in an ideal situation to do so with the Baltimore Ravens as he has been reigning MVP Lamar Jackson's favorite target.
Entering most fantasy football seasons, Kelce has been a regular at the top spot in his positional rankings. His consistent dominance with the Kansas City Chiefs in one of the best overall offenses in the NFL is a big reason why. The 2024 season has a newcomer at the No. 1 overall tight end spot, eclipsing Kelce after his impressive rookie season last year.

Who is the best tight end in fantasy football 2024?
Sam LaPorta has taken over the top spot in the tight end rankings for the 2024 fantasy football season. He enjoyed a heavy workload with the Detroit Lions during his rookie season last year and is expected to play a similar role this season. The Lions haven't added any significant target competition, so LaPorta should be featured along with Amon-Ra St. Brown again.
LaPorta's massive first season included 86 receptions on 120 targets for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. He finished as the TE1 in season-long scoring last year, so with another offseason to develop his game, it makes sense why he has eclipsed Travis Kelce as the most desirable fantasy tight end.
