Zac Taylor, one of the NFL's youngest and brightest head coaches, led the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl last season.

While we know much about Zac, we don't know a lot about his wife, Sarah Sherman Taylor. However, Sarah's father knows a thing or two about being a head coach in the NFL.

Mike Sherman was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers for six seasons (2000-2005). He had a 57-39 record during that stretch. He was a top offensive assistant for the Houston Texans when his daughter began dating Zac Taylor.

Taylor described meeting the former Packers head coach and how nervous he was at the time:

"The first time I met him, he was upstairs in his house. He has his XOS coaches film set up there. I was as intimidated as can be. I figured, I can impress him by watching film with him. He runs a basic play back and forth and says something like, 'What’s your landmark at Nebraska on this play?'

"I say, 'Oh, same as you [at Green Bay and Houston], the inside edge of the field numbers.' I felt a panic at that point. And he says, ‘But aren’t your field numbers a little wider in college?’ At that moment, I realized I had no idea what I was talking about. I didn’t say another word for 20 minutes."

How did Zac Taylor meet Sarah Sherman?

Zac Taylor met Sarah Sherman at the University of Nebraska, where Taylor was the quarterback and Sherman was a graduate assistant for the football team.

In a December 2018 interview with Sports Illustrated, Taylor described his first encounter with Sherman:

"I remember the first time I saw her. We were practicing on our soccer field at Nebraska. When practice ended, there was a girl in a yellow dress. She looked so much more mature, I figured she was probably 30 years old. I’m only 22. As the year went by, I learned we were the same age. I would run into her more often and I realized maybe I had a chance."

Telling her side of things, Sherman said:

“From the second I met him, I just admired he was the last person at a fan day one time. He was the starting quarterback, but he signed every kid’s thing. I kind of just stalked him until he asked me out. Luckily he did.”

In an interview last January, Sarah admitted to the ups and downs and how proud she was of her husband, Zac Taylor:

“[There have been] some dark times. It’s just hard when you have a guy working that hard, and I know he’s doing it all the right way, and I knew we were going to get there. I just didn’t know how fast we would, so I’m just really proud of him.”

The Cincinnati Bengals head coach and his wife have four kids: sons Brooks and Luke and daughters Emma and Milly.
