On Thursday, a federal court sentenced ChiefsAholic to a 17-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Xaviar Babudar, well known as ChiefsAholic, is a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He had entered a guilty plea to robbing banks nationwide.
In February, Babudar entered a guilty plea, confessing to stealing over $800,000 in 11 different states and using casinos to launder the money he took. He entered a guilty plea to one count each of bank robbery, money laundering and transporting stolen goods across state borders in the US.
Babudar is well-known for dressing up as a wolf and sporting Kansas City Chiefs gear when he attends NFL games. As part of his February plea agreement, the court mandated that he give back any property connected to his money laundering scheme.
That includes an FBI-recovered autographed painting of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He has also been ordered to pay $532,675 to the financial institutions he stole from.

Details of the crimes ChiefsAholic committed
Xaviar Babudar entered a guilty plea in February for the initial bank heist that occurred in March 2022. He reportedly gave the bank teller a note claiming to be armed and demanding money. He also acknowledged using a gun to rob a bank in Nebraska in April 2022.
Then, in June 2022, according to a court release from February, Babudar wagered $5,000 at an Illinois casino on Patrick Mahomes winning the Most Valuable Player award at Super Bowl LVII. This bet paid out $45,000.
He also wagered $5,000 on the Kansas City Chiefs winning that Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, which paid out $55,000.
Before being taken into custody in December 2022 for robbing an Oklahoma credit union, Babudar had also stolen from several other financial institutions. At least a few of which he did at gunpoint.
Babudar was released on bond in February 2023; however, he quickly disconnected his GPS ankle monitor and ran away.
He reportedly utilized the $100,000 he won from his Super Bowl bets to get a car and avoid detection. In addition, he continued robbing banks for an additional four months until his arrest in July 2023 in California.
US Attorney Teresa Moore stated that:
"His [Xaviar Babudar] violent crime spree across the Midwest and beyond traumatized bank employees and victimized financial institutions in seven states. All of his criminal activity, including his attempt to elude justice, will be held accountable.”
For his series of armed bank robberies across the country, Xaviar Babudar has been given a long jail sentence, without the possibility of parole, and three years of supervised release.
