Carr injured his hand in the fourth quarter of New Orleans' 14-11 win over the New York Giants in Week 14. He collided with teammate Kevin Austin Jr., after jumping in an attempt to get a first down. Carr landed awkwardly on his head and hand, injuring himself on the play. He exited and was replaced by Spencer Riddler.
The Saints later announced that Carr had multiple fractures in his left hand and was ruled out for the rest of the season. In Carr's absence, Riddler has started as New Orleans' signal-caller and he will lead the team's offense against the Buccaneers.
Since the Saints are not headed to the playoffs, Carr is expected to return to action next season.
How has Derek Carr performed this season?
Derek Carr's 2024 season was marred by injury. Nonetheless, he completed 189 of 279 passes for 2,145 yards and 15 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also recorded 71 yards and a rushing TD across 10 games.
