Geno Smith was fined $11,255 by the NFL after his actions during Week 8's matchup. The Seattle Seahawks were dismantled by the Buffalo Bills 31-10 to drop to 4-4 and remain tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals for the top spot in the NFC West division.

Not only did they suffer a big loss against one of the strongest opponents they've faced this season, but Smith got himself in trouble with 36 seconds left on the clock in the third quarter.

The league punished the veteran playmaker for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting after he tossed the ball and hit Dawuane Smoot after a play. A flag was thrown at the moment and the league applied a stricter punishment with this fine.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Geno Smith was upset after getting hit by Taron Johnson in a play that didn't get a reaction from referees or league officials.

Smith once again was accurate with his throws, but his pass attempts didn't translate into scoring opportunities for his team. He completed 21 of 29 pass attempts for 212 passing yards but zero touchdowns and one interception. He carried the ball five times for 16 yards against a Bills defense that played at a high level against the run.

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks stay afloat amid rocky season

Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks were one of the teams that started the 2024 NFL season unbeaten after three games. They beat the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins before dropping three consecutive games against the Detroit Lions, New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

They bounced back with a 34-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons before the Buffalo Bills handled them in Week 8.

They will face the LA Rams on Sunday in a divisional matchup. After this game, they'll face the 49ers again and then the Cardinals. These three games could put them in a strong position in the division, but if they don't bring their A-game, the job will be hard to carry out.

Geno Smith leads the NFL in passing yards (2,197), but the rest of his numbers aren't the best. He has thrown for eight touchdowns but also seven interceptions. Smith posted a poor quarterback rating (QBR) against the Bills (11.0) and if he wants to lead this team to the postseason, something must change.
