Former NFL star Gosder Cherilus was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly urinating on a passenger during an overnight Delta flight that took off from Boston Logan International Airport. Cherilus, a first-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2008 NFL draft, was released from jail on Monday morning after posting a $2,500 bail.

As per reports, the Delta flight was heading to Dublin but had to return to Boston following Cherilus' unruly on-board behavior.

When the flight landed in Boston at around 2 a.m. EDT, Cherilus was asked to leave. However, the former NFL star was reportedly furious and uncooperative with the staff until the police arrived and arrested him on charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew.

"Troopers verbally commanded Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became irate and uncooperative. Eventually, Troopers escorted Cherilus to the jet bridge and placed him under arrest," Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.

On Monday morning, Gosder Cherilus was spotted leaving East Boston District Court. He was released after paying $2,500 in bail.

Cherilus, later in the same day, took to social media to apologize and explain his behavior at the airport, admitting he took medication to fall asleep. Due to the delay in the flight, he was unable to do so, resulting in his non-cooperative behavior.

Moreover, Cherilus has been ordered to stay alcohol and drug-free since he will be tested soon. The former NFL offensive lineman has also been instructed to stay away from the victim he urinated on and Logan airport barring any legitimate travel.

Cherilus played college football with the Boston College Eagles. He redshirted the 2003 season and played four years with the team, earning a Second-Team All-ACC selection in 2007.

The Lions selected Cherilus with the No. 17 pick in the 2008 NFL draft. The offensive lineman played five years in Detroit before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 2013.

Cherilus signed a five-year, $35 million deal with the Colts, which made him the highest-paid right tackle in NFL history at the time. He was released by the team in July 2015.

Ahead of the 2015 season, Cherilus joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent two seasons with the franchise before announcing his retirement on March 16, 2017.

Cherilus played 132 games across his NFL career. He made 116 starts and posted two fumble recoveries.
