Mike McCarthy is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He is serving his third season with the Cowboys. McCarthy is one of the most experienced head coaches currently in the league.
He has led the Cowboys to the postseason twice in his three seasons with them. The Cowboys finished the 2022 regular season with a 12-5 record and were placed second behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
They have made it to the playoffs and will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round on January 16th, Monday.

Prior to joining the Cowboys, McCarthy was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers for 13 years. He had quite a successful run with the team, and the Packers under him made it to the postseason nine times.
From 2009 to 2016, the Packers made back-to-back appearances in the NFL playoffs. McCarthy also led the franchise to their fourth Super Bowl title in 2011. Mike McCarthy was the most successful head coach in franchise history. So why did the Packers fire him after the 2018 season?
The Green Bay Packers made a mid-season decision to fire McCarthy on December 2, 2018, after the Packers suffered a 17-20 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. At the time, the Packers had a losing record of 4-7-1 and had lost five of their last six games. The Green Bay Packers' struggling performances became the reason for Mike McCarthy's downfall.
After winning the Super Bowl in 2011, the Packers did not have much success winning playoff games. They played 11 postseason games from 2011 to 2016 and won only five of them.
However, in 2017, the Packers couldn't confirm their playoff berth and ended the regular season with a losing record of 7-9. However, Aaron Rodgers missed many games that season due to a broken collarbone. But the following season wasn't any better, and it was time for the Green Bay Packers to move on to a new head coach.

Mike McCarthy's head coaching record
Mike McCarthy started his coaching career in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs. In 1993, he served as an offensive quality control assistant, and in 1995, he became the quarterbacks coach for the team.
In 1999, he became the Packers' quarterbacks coach for a season, where he worked with Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre. McCarthy was the offensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints for five years (2000-2004).
Mike McCarthy was hired by the San Francisco 49ers as the offensive coordinator in 2005 by coach Mike Nolan. After serving them for a season, he made a comeback for the Green Bay Packers, but this time as the franchise's 14th head coach. He served with the team for 13 years and had a 125-77-2 regular-season record.
In 2020, he joined the Dallas Cowboys and is currently in his third season with them. He currently has a 30-19-0 record with the Dallas Cowboys.
