The San Francisco 49ers will go up against the Chicago Bears on Sunday evening but will have to do so without a few of their big names. A total of five names have been ruled out of the Week 14 showdown against Chicago, including star pass rusher Nick Bosa.

Bosa has been nursing injuries to the hip and oblique muscles over the past few weeks.

Why isn't Nick Bosa playing today vs Chicago Bears?

Late on Saturday night, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Niners downgraded Bosa to out for Week 14 after listing him as doubtful for the game.

This means Bosa will now miss his third consecutive game due to oblique and hip injuries. Oblique injuries in particular can be tricky to hasten a comeback from. New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr also missed three games due to the same injury before making his comeback in November.

Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers injury report

A total of five names have been ruled out for the Niners this week. Left tackle Trent Williams is out with an ankle injury which means he will miss his third straight game while linebacker Dre Greenlaw will miss another game with an Achilles injury. Christian McCaffrey is out for the season with a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury so he will take no part while his backup Jordan Mason has also been placed on injured reserve owing to an ankle injury.

Safety George Odum has also been ruled out of Week 14 with a knee injury.

The Chicago Bears also have more than a few injury concerns, though those are considerably fewer than the Niners' issues. They will not have the services of running back Roschon Johnson due to a concussion. Fellow RB D'Andre Swift is listed as questionable with a quad injury but is expected to suit up alongside wide receiver DJ Moore who is also nursing a similar injury.

Ryan Bates and Elijah Hicks are both out of Week 14.
