Paxton Lynch brings NFL experience to the Orlando Guardians of the XFL, but the team is underdogs to win the XFL championship this season. Johnny Avello, DraftKings’ director of sportsbook operations, offers a reason as to why that is the case. Avello asserts that Lynch is the main reason why Orlando is a long shot.
Avello said:
“Paxton Lynch, who really hasn’t done much anywhere playing in any professional level, and he didn’t play well in the USFL, so that’s why they’re at the bottom."

Paxton Lynch was a first-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2016 NFL draft. The quarterback started just four games, all with the Broncos over the course of three seasons. He threw for 792 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions in the NFL
In 2021, Lynch also played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League and in the USFL last year with the Michigan Panthers.
How Orlando is faring with Paxton Lynch under center
Offensively, Orlando is fourth in yards per game with 317 and 236 passing yards. However, they rank last in the XFL with just 12 points per game. It is important to note that the Guardians have played just one game, a loss to the Houston Roughnecks.
Although Lynch started the game versus the Roughnecks, he did not finish it. Guardians head coach and former NFL cornerback Terrell Buckley benched the quarterback. Lynch was benched for backup Quentin Dormady in the third quarter.
He now holds the record as the only quarterback to be benched in four different leagues.
It remains unknown if Buckley will start the former NFL signal-caller in their next game. For the former University of Memphis star, the XFL might be his last shot at being a starting quarterback. Let's see if Paxton Lynch can turn it around to give Orlando a fighting chance for an XFL title.
