Stefon Diggs has been the talk of the town for the Houston Texans after missing practice this week. The superstar wideout has been ruled out for the Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets and fans want to know why the four-time Pro Bowler won't play in the Thursday Night Football game at MetLife Stadium.

The Texans have confirmed that Stefon Diggs has picked up a knee injury that has cut short his 2024 NFL season. The wideout will require surgery on his right leg to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans broke the news of Diggs' injury on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, he (Diggs) tore his ACL so he’ll be out for the year,” Ryans told reporters. “Really hurt, hurts our team to hear that news."

Hence, Diggs won't play in Week 9 against the Jets on Thursday and neither will he take part in any of the remaining games for Houston this season. This is a big blow for the Texans, who have plans of pushing for the playoffs and making a deep postseason run.

Diggs picked up the non-contact injury in the third quarter of Houston's win over Indianapolis on Sunday. He pulled after a play and grabbed his right knee before falling to the ground. The receiver exited and did not return.

Diggs, traded from the Bills to the Texans in the offseason, had been a key offensive weapon for quarterback C.J. Stroud. The wideout racked up a team-high 47 receptions for 496 yards and caught three touchdowns through the air across eight games.
