The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a difficult 2024 season, and since they will once again be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence, their struggles could continue in Week 15 when they face the New York Jets at EverBank Stadium.

Lawrence will miss a game for the fourth time this season, but only the fifth time since being selected by Jacksonville as the first overall pick in 2021.

The 25-year-old was also unavailable for the team's Week 14 win over the Tennessee Titans. Below, let's find out why Trevor Lawrence won't be available for the game against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets on Sunday.

Why isn't Trevor Lawrence playing in Week 15 vs. the New York Jets?

Trevor Lawrence suffered a head injury in the Jacksonville Jaguars' 23-20 Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans after linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair struck him on the helmet in the first half.

Al-Shaair's hit on Lawrence sparked several altercations, and the Texans linebacker was called for unsportsmanlike behavior. Before receiving a three-game suspension from the NFL, he was also ejected from the matchup.

However, Lawrence had to be placed on injured reserve because of the concussion he sustained from the hit three days after the game. The former No. 1 pick had already missed two consecutive outings before Week 13 due to a sprained AC joint in his shoulder before his most recent ailment.

Lawrence will now miss his second straight matchup, and since a player on injured reserve is required to sit out at least four games, he won't be available for at least two more.

Will Trevor Lawrence still play this season?

Although Trevor Lawrence will be eligible to play in Week 18, the Jacksonville Jaguars currently sit at 3-10 on the season and have been eliminated from postseason contention, so it makes little sense for the organization to bring him back this season.

A few days after Lawrence's injury, coach Doug Pederson added that the Jaguars must take precautions for his "long-term health." This likely means that the star signal-caller won't play again in the league until the start of the 2025 season.

Who will start at quarterback for the Jaguars against the New York Jets?

Mac Jones has started at quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars for three of the last four games due to Trevor Lawrence's injuries.

Jones will start once again when Jacksonville hosts the Jets today. This season, he has participated in six games and completed 80 passes for 732 yards and two touchdowns. He has also scored one touchdown on the ground and gained 24 yards on 13 rushes.
